Servicing Trans with 153K ?

Just bought the truck. E4OD trans. Has about a 1 sec hesitation putting it in Reverse, none going into drive. Sometimes shifting into 2nd seems a "little" harsh ( hard ) but not real bad, 3 and 4th so smooth you almost cant tell its shifting. 153,000 miles. It was a one owner vehicle. They seem to have taken good care of it, but tranny service is one thing people never take care of.

I have heard horror stories of people doing a trans service on high milage trans and the trans goes to hell after words. What do you guys think? Should I go for a full trans fliud service? Maybe a pan drop/filter change several times over the summer? Nothing at all?

I read in a post about doing a full service with MercronV. Is this something special ( Synth. )?

Thanx

Jim

I'd change the filter and fluid using what's recommended in the Owner's manual. "Nothing at all" is not the ticket for any age transmission.
