why is my tranny binding

so heres the deal......... my buddy and i are import mechanics, we decided to take this bronco on as a project truck......... its got a 351w and a c6 tranny.... problem is after we put the motor in something bound up and the motor wont turn!!!!!!! we have never run into a problem quite like this before..... we tok the motor back out and everything was fine, motor turned tc turned, put it back together and its all bound up again.. What is going on????? is there a certain way to line up the tc to the flex plate on this application????? has anyone run into this problem before??? any info would be much appriciated.....

As I recall, when you slide the tq converter onto the trans, spin it while sliding on the shaft. You should feel it "engage" twice. Hope nothing got broke.

yeah the tc isnt the problem as i can see its fully engaged

Sounds like you didn't have the converter all the way in and broke the pump.
The converter will engage 3 times. Once for the turbine shaft, once for the stator shaft and once for the pump gears.
