tranny fluid

Where do I add tranny fluid on my 90' Ford with the 4.9L? If I had to guess I would say its a AODE or somethin like that. Some people say stick it down the dipstick but I don't think that'd work.

add down the dipstick tube....... it will take forever but thats the way to do it. youll have to wait a few minutes for the fluid to clear the tube to check the level but the motor must be running and youll have to slowly engage in every gear before you check to get an acurate reading..

A 90 could have 3 different transmissions with a 4.9
c6 is the best it is a 3 speed. AOD is next best it is a 4speed with a OD-D-1 shifter arrangement. If it has an e40d it will have a pushbutton overdrive. The e40d is technically the strongest transmission ,but the 90 ones were terrible.
either way just use plain dex III fluid in it.
