how to check transmission fluid

Directions for checking transmission fluid:

Drive vehicle 15 miles until warm.
Stop.
Leave vehicle running.
Pop hood and pull transmission fluid dipstick out.
Wipe clean.
Reinsert and take another look.
If fluid is in cross-hatched area, do not add fluid. If below cross-hatched area, add fluid until there is enough.
Make sure you add the proper fluid to the transmission.

Very good post, and correct too. But,I like to go one step further; I like to put the transmission in each gear before leaving it in park then checking it.

This is alot better than your advice on checking engine oil in the engine section. Did you find a resource book?
