output shaft slip yoke

i have a 94 f-150. it has a 4r70w, and a 302. heres my problem: it has this clunk when i put in drive or reverse first thing of a morning. when i just let off of the brake, i hear this snap/clunk. it has a one piece drive shaft, so i assume the slip yoke is the where the out put shaft of the tranny. i dont know if i want to put grease on that because i dont want grease mixed with the transmission fluid. any help would be appreciated

thanks for your advice, but i am positive the clunk is coming from somewhere past the middle point twards the front of the truck. i hear it when turning into a place where i drive over a gutter, and also when i'm driving, and jerk the steering wheel. wheel bearings have just been replaced, good ball joints and tie rod ends. I think it MIGHT be the bushings that you can see just from looking under the front wheel well, but not for sure. the truck just now has 109k, but wish i could get rid of this annoying clunk
