Popping out of 5th gear
Popping out of 5th gear
I am able to shift into 5th gear, but as soon as I try to accelerate.... it pops out o gear. i can stay in 5th gear as long as I don't try to accelerate to hard. I guess this means that the gear is barely engaging. I know very little about transmissions....in fact my uncle replaced the shift fork that engages 1st and 2nd gear. The fork was worn thin so that it was not grabing the gear to slide it into place. Every since then...as far as i can remember..I have had the 5th gear problem of popping out of gear. I am not sure if something could have been adjusted by changing out that fork that would through the 5th gear alignment off or not. I need help. and comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I recently had to have the transmission rebuilt in my 2000 F150 Supercrew. I'm still having issues with it though. It's holding back before it changes into the next gear and somethimes the RPMs will go up excessively while doing so. I have a 25,000 mile warranty on the rebuild. Should I take it back to get reserviced? I had the transmission replaced initially because it kept slipping out of overdrive and I would have to put it into Drive 2 to drive it. It wasn't pushing into the gears hard like that before. What could be the problem? Anyone know?
It's not popping out of 5th gear anymore since I took it back for that. But it's still not right. What I mean by "holding back" is that say, when it's it 2nd gear it feels like it's just fighting with me to go into 3rd gear and when it does it jerks really hard. The RPMs go up excessively while it's in the change.
