grinding gears in transmission constantly.

Question grinding gears in transmission constantly.

I have a 97 f150 with a 4.6L engine and manuel transmissin. Whenever i get on the trottle in first and change to second it grinds horribly. When driving normal it doesnt do it. Any advice ont his problem would be greatly aprreciated.

how many miles do you have?
it could be worn synchronizer rings. also, check the fluid level. if all of the above are fine, the gears could be worn out. if the gears are worn, just get new a tranny

The truck has 152,000 on it i will check those things out then get back to you

synchronizer rings genrally last for the life time of the vehicle unless you make a habbit of shifting with out a clutch, speed shifting, and other misc crap. remember, the clutch must be down to the floor. i would pull the little side plate off the bell housing and make sure that the clutch fork is being pushed the length of the specs. hope this helps
