4r70 or 4r100? & metal found in pan

I changed the transmission fluid this weekend and found a piece of metal in the pan...it's pretty small though, so I dunno if it's a big deal. Here's what I found - not the razor blade . It's about the same thickness as a razor blade though. This was the first change, so could this be left over from when it was put together, or should I be worried? (not that I could do anything about it)

Also, does anyone know if this is the right filter for the 4r70? Autozone sold me a filter that didn't fit the first time. I went back for the right one and was asked "Are you sure you don't have a supercharger?" !!!!!! the filter that fits is supposedly the filter for the lightning (with the 4r100 trans).

Nothing I've bought for my truck has ever fit, so I'm starting to wonder what kind of frankenstien truck I have (2001 screw with 5.4l). The list so far is: headers (JBA), intake manifold gaskets (felpro & victor - my engine has an extra water passage that the gaskets don't account for - ended up re-using one gasket), and now transmission filter (maybe - or autozone is just dumb).

Thanks!!

I wouldn't worry about that shaving. Looks to me like someone cross threaded a valve body screw and that shaving came out. Really, its nothing to be worried about.

As far as transmission type, what is the tranny code on your door jamb? IS it a U or an E?

You probably have the E40D tranny which is the brother of the 4r100 transmission. I have the same one with my 97 F150 with the 5.4 liter engine.
