Question Fluid change

I am thinking of changing my own tranny fluid and filter in my 2001 f150 screw. I have seen it done, doesn't look hard. I am just woundering if anyone has any tips or suggestions. And anyone suggest a better fluid than factory dextron 5.

Normally I'm not one to tell people to check other posts for questions that have been answer about twenty times, but I answered this question like 10 post ago. It is actually still on this group of post. You wouldn't have had to even go to a different page. Here is the link to that post https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...hreadid=168276

Also had you done a search for the words "tranny fluid" I'm sure you would have come across a dozen or so posts telling you how to change your tranny fluid. Not trying to be rude, just lettin ya know.

Just look here: http://members.shaw.ca/pferlow/transmission_oil.htm

Check the spec plate in your door jamb. Code "U" tranny is 4R70W. If you have the 4R100 then that's slightly different, but similar.

Recently I installed a B&M drain plug kit which makes future draining way less messy instead of lowering the pan and taking your chances with a shower.

I knew some one would think that that way. I guess you didn't read the last line of my post. It wasn't a slam, just a kind reminder. And please don't let my 17 post here lead you to believe that I am a forum rookie. I post on several other boards, and am a Moderator on another board, so I know how these things go. I'm not going to go any deeper trying to explain my actions, just know that they were not intended to be rude.

Thank you for all the info, and i didn't take your comments too personal because I'm not a forum junkie.I'd rather be in my truck enjoying life than vegging in front of my computer.
