effects of not changing fluid?

i have the 4r70w tranny and i do not see it in the service manual as far as when to flush the fluid. it is starting to shift weird and stuff so i want to take it to the dealer, but i dont want them saying that i should have changed the fluids by now and tell me its my fault. i only have about 40000 miles on it (actually 39xxx). now it feels like it may be skipping a gear when getting on to the hiway, like from 2nd to od, and once i get up to speed, the rpms stay up for a while, then drop about 2 or 3 hundred rpm to where the rpms normally are. sometimes it will slam into gear when downshifting. do these symptoms sound like they could be fixed from changing the fluid? the OD light has not flashed, and i have not gotten a CE light either. any suggestions? i have the 75000 mile warranty, so i am hoping whatever the problem is, it will be covered by that.

thanks.

Change the fluid every 30-40K. Did you check the level? It sounds like it could be low. There should be a diipstick to the rear of the engine. Check it while the truck is running and at operating temperature. The shifter should be in Park or neutral.

My Service Manual say to change the trans fluid every 30,000 miles. Plus a bunch of other things too.......

The longest list of serviceable items seems to be every 30k.....

Good luck!
