I just got my TRANSGO Shift kit for 4R100 trannys and would be putting it in this weekend except my wife is taking the truck and a jetski down to the Wichita, KS area.

So...

The weekend after this its going in.

Cant wait to try it out! Btw, I paid $80.00 shipped for the kit and its brand new.

Joe

I should get mine today for a 4r70w and will either put it in tonight or in the morning. I'll let you know how mine goes too... Pat

Edit: Well the guy in brown shorts dropped off the FTVB at 6:30 this evening. So I started the install since that was the last thing I was waiting on. Having never worked on a tranny before I have to say was a PITA! If it wasn't for the factory service manual on CD I wouldn't have got it out and done right. Got it all back together and had drive in park, neutral and drive, no 2nd or 1st. Pulled out my hair and had a friend come over and help out. Dropped the pan (again) and realized I forgot a major step in my excitment. This is it-

Make sure that the drive pin of the manual valve detent lever assembly engages the manual valve in the proper location prior to installing the bolts.
Position the main control valve body gasket and main control valve body using the two alignment bolts as a guide.
Major error but easy fix, dropped the vb and repositioned everything. Bolted it up, pan on, oil in, bingo- I got gears. And one heck of a shift. And it only took 5 hours. Not bad!

installed ftvb on saterday, install went smooth, it shifts nice and hard in 1-2, 2-3 is qiuck wish it was harder tho, and 3 to overdrive seems to have a slight hesatation, dont know if this is normal or not would like some feedback, the kit was good quality stuff, the instructions were horable, i have rebuilt auto trans before so i knew what i was doing my freind took alook at the instructions and scratched his head, some better photos and a better step by step process would help, and the shifts arent as hard as i thought they would be, and i also have it tuned for hard shifts on top of the ftvb, i am going to call today and see if there is anything i can do to make them harder

How hard do you want the shifts?

Me personally, I want the shifts to be felt, but not chirp the tires and not make it uncomfortable to the passengers.

Hard shifts can hurt the output shaft and cause premature u joint failure

the 3-4 shift is not firm and fast like you would expect. it comes from a different part, don't know myself other that the kit won't fix this shift. use a tuner to increase fluid pressure for even harder shifts.

Bigtruck all's I can say is dido. Mine is the same way, 1-2 is solid, 2-3 is quick and OD it seems to hesitate a little. Other than that I'm happy. Smae thought on the instructions.

Put my shift kit in today.

YEEHAW.. its pretty nice.

I went with the stock normal settings because I am going to get a chip here after a bit and did not want bone jarring shifts.

Very nice though, should help with towing a lot!

Do you remeber how to make sure the manual valve detent lever assembly engages to its proper location?

Thank you for any info you may have.
