I looked up the oil change interval on my 2002 Supercrew 5.4 4x4, with the "U"code trans (4R70W) and the maint. schedule says to change the oil on the 4R100 and some others at 30,000 miles, but to just check the oil level on the rest.
The 4R70W is not listed at all.
I'm curious if anyone else has run into this.
I always thought the trans fluid should be changed every 30K, but now I am wondering. The trans dipstick calls for Mercon V fluid. Is there an extended change interval on this trans that I don't know about?
Any information would be appreciated.

manual for my 1997 4r70w says change the tranny fluid every 30,000 miles. I've changed it at around 40,000 mile intervals and it shifts like new with 170,000 plus miles. i dont think the mercon V is any different from mercon when it comes to fluid change intervals. If it doubt, change it (IMO)
