I Need Help Servicing a 100,000 Mile 4R70W Transmission To Make It Better Than OEM
I have read numerous posts about servicing the 4R70W F150 transmission. I know opinions are like you know what; everyone has one. I am scheduled to perform the 100,000 Mile trans service and want to know:
1. Best tranny fluid to use
2. Best filter to use
3. Are there any benefits to installing an aftermarket valve body
Judging from what I've read on this forum, RedLine Oil with a friction modifier has been tried with varied results. Some have installed aftermarket valve bodies. Some have replaced solenoids.
Anyone experiment with several of these options?

I only use ford mercon V trans fluid in 4r70w units.
Filter doesn't make a big difference just make sure it is the right one to match your pan.
Factory Tech Valvebody definately rocks.
Factory tech also Builds a Torque Converter for this unit that will definately turn some heads.
I cannot stress cooling of this transmission enough. If you really want it to last make it run cool.I highly recommend 3/8 cooler lines and a big trans cooler if the vehicle is not already equipped.
