Ford replaced the plastic piece in the tail shaft housing. Im going to replace the vss and the abs speed sensor myself.

I've become a master at the vss on my truck. 11mm socket, 3" extension. Can have it out and new one in, in about 1 minute. Really easy to do.

 

Vehicle is 97 F-150 4X4with 5.4 and 80.000 miles. This problem began during heavy rainstorm whien wife eas driving vehicle the speeometer quit, transmission would not shift properly.check engine light came on. Took to shop they placed on the computer and replaced the vss sensor. Drove the vehilce app. 600miles and yesterday during heavy rainstorm speedometer and tranmission done the same thing as before.
It seems that water is affecting something. Has anyone had these same senario happened to them?

 

well mine is still screwed up. Have replaced the abs speed sensor and vss and still get the light. Tranny shifts fine, its just that dam od light.

I got codes p1500 and p0503 both sayign intermittent vss signal. I can't figure it out. I've cleaned out the sensor connections and it still does not work.
