removed pan, plastic ****/shaft fell!!

I'm replacing trans fluid in my 4R70W (2000 F150, 4.2L). Found a plastic **** with attached shaft laying in the bottom of the pan when I removed the pan. I can't figure out where it goes!! Part is a cream-colored plastic shaft with a spherical **** on one end. Shaft is approx. 1/8" dia by 2 inches long. **** is approx 3/4" dia, and has oring around its circumference. I've looked at exploded diagram of tranny, but don't see this part. It looks like it might be part of some type of float valve. Anybody know where it goes?

Nothing to worry about.
Here is mine in the upper right corner of the pan.

It's in every pan. It's for protection before the assembly.
It has no use now anymore.

Nothing to worry about.
Someone else will explain better where it's for.

I'm not 100% sure,
but I believe it was placed on the pan end of the dip stick tube. When the factory put the dip stick in, it pushed the "stopper" into the pan.

When the vendor/supplier prepares to ship the transmissions to the assembly plants, they fill the transmissions up with fluid. This is simply a plastic divet as I call them the operator pushes into the pan during the installation of the dipstick tube. I know, I done this operation for 2 years.

Same thing happened to me when I did that, the Haynes manual even has a picture of it and tells you not to freak out, it is a dip stick plug from factory. Just lets you know your the first to preform that service.
