how would i be able to tell which auto tranny is on my f-150 (98, 4.6,4x4)?????

 

The easist way is that all 4.6L automatics are the 4R70W. If you want to be real sure look for the blue tag on the driver's door jamb. Under the letters "TR" will be either a "U" or an "E." The "U" means 4R70W and the "E" means E4OD or 4R100.

 

of these possible trannys, which one is the best? Just curious, i guess.

 

They can both be modified to be very durable. The 4R100 can handle more torque, is not common in F-150s, and is built up and used in the Lightning.

 

Is the 4R70W as bad as the A4LD in the Exploder? What should I bee looking out for?
