I have a 99 f-150 sport....with the 4.6. It is the late model so it has the same design as the 00's. I have heard that the 4rw30 transmission had problems. How can i tell what tranny i have and what will happen if it is this transmission?

 

i found out that it is the 4r70w....is this a decent tranny or did they have problems with it?

 

I have the same tranny and will be upgrading to about 500 rwhp (being optimistic) so i needed to research about the tranny also. i flaw is the intermediate shaft if you do a search you will find some good posts on that. depending on what kinda of hp you want a heavy duty rebuild would probably be inorder with that. I think a unanomous minimal mod would be a Factory tech valve body i plan on going with one when i rebuild. hope this helps some.
