trans pan upgrade

i went over to summit racing to day and took a look at there trans pans upgrades whith cooling fins. looks great but after looking at it i dont want it on my truck thats for sure.put it this way if i hit a rock with the stock
i think it might just bash it in so what.now the one at summit looks like if i hit a rock that cast iron or what ever its made out ofjust might crack!! what you all think??


oh by the way picked up a k&n filter wow what a diff.

Yes, the cast aluminum pans will not fare well when hit by a rock offroad. Cast when hit will either crack or break, it won't bend like the stock pans. If you're going to offroad the truck skip the trans pan and add a larger cooler with an integrated fan on it so it cools when at slow speeds. If you're really dead set on running that trans pan I would run a skid plate to protect it.

Yea ill stick with stock!! and far as the tranny cooler where do you think i could mount such a thing and what about the stock one in it??

An auxiliary trans cooler will mount in front of the radiator and AC condensor. The stock integrated cooler in the radiator is insufficient to cool the truck, especially when offroading and towing. An aux cooler will help with towing, but to get help with it offroad you would have to mount an electric fan to it so it will move enough air at slow speeds to cool the fluid.
