Speedo gear ?...

Speedo gear ?...

I changed my tires from 16" W/ 235/70's up to 18" W/265/70's..of course the speedo is way off now and I thought I saw a thread on changing out the speedometer/odometer gear at the transmission to correct this..I have a 3.55 L/S at the rear...any info and Numbers on this? Thanks

I went from 17's to 18's. I don't know how far off the speedo is. I haven't figured out the complete answer to your question yet.

You might want to do a search in the aftermarker wheel and tire section. There is a bunch of information there.

It's my understanding that anything newer than a 2000 the speedo is controlled throught the PCM. The earlier would have the speedo gear. I guess you have to count the number of teeth on the gear. Then you have to figure out how far off the speedo is. THen there is some mathmatical equasion that you have to do to figure out how many teeth you need on the speedo for it to be accurate.

I realize that I'm not really helping much. Mike Troyer might be able to help you out, as could several others.
