Transmission Shudder

I just started to hear and feel a low shudder whenever I back up out of the drive way and at slow forward speeds. I probably can't hear it going any faster due to road noise.

Anyone have this exerience or any ideas on what I should do?

SAME PROBLEM HERE

I have a 2001 4WD SuperCrew and last week (53,000 easy miles) I noticed the SAME thing..even at high freeway speeds. I'm still searching to see what is going on. Keep me posted and I'll keep you posted.

Good Luck

I've seen alot of posts about this, and figured all our trannys were junk....LOL I was advised to try an additive called Wynn's Ultra Smooth "the anti shudder transmission treatment". I just put the bottle in an hour ago. I'm not really holding my breath, because I've had the shuddering for awhile, and before and after tranny fluid changes but you never know. I'll keep you posted!

I'm taking my truck into the dealer tomorrow. I'll let you know what they say. The sound is more like a grind of sorts with a minor vibration.

My ride only has 14,000 miles so I hope it's not a sign of things to come. My Expedition never had the problem and I put 80,000 miles on it.

Tranny shudder...

There's been alot of posting recently about the infamous tranny shudder. I had that problem a couple years ago and just about drove to buy a Cheby (but I sought psychiatric help and I'm fine now).

Mine shuddered between 35-42 mph (I forget the rpms). I did the fluid change and that helped for about 3 months...then started again. Back to the psychiatrist...and he told me about "LubeGuard" Probably similar to Wynn's Ultra Smooth. It worked like a charm. Nearly 2 years and not a single shudder since!!! Just one small bottle fixed a world of frustration.

http://www.lubegard.com/automotive/trans_atf.html

Acutally my "psychiatrist" was a patient at a hospital where I work. He knew cars and trucks forward and backwards. Since he was stuck in bed for a few days, he loved the conversation and distraction from the endless hours spent on his back. Beats the hell out of laying out all that hard earned $$$ for a shrink...or worse yet...buying a Cheby!!!

Both me and my truck are quite well adjusted now.

Angry Tranny Shudder

I have a slight shudder that just started.

It only happens when I back out of the driveway and put it in drive when the truck has been sitting for a while or overnight. If I just put it into drive and take off it does not happen.

After that first takeoff it will not do it again until after it sits for a while again.

HEy Guys!!! This "ultra smooth" worked almost instantly!!! I have put roughly 250 kms on the truck since I put it in, and just did a couple of tests......(where my shudder should or normally would have occured) I felt a slight shudder once, but nowhere near as bad as before, and then I couldn't make it do it again....even on the 2nd to 3rd shift uphill. Thats where it used to be the worst!....Too soon to do backflips, but so far so good.

Well I got my truck back from the dealer. I bought the truck at Gator Ford and they are a class organization.

I had a bearing, trans clutch and drive link of some sort replaced. Not exactly sure of the terminology for those parts. All of these related parts were faulty. They ordered parts and fixed the truck in less than two days. Now the truck rides much smoother and shifts better.

They drove it when I brought it in and the service manager said "Oh Yeah" something is wrong with the tranny. I was used to it, didn't know any better. It was probably running that way since new.
