What do you consider a pain in the äss?
Disconnect battery, remove 4 screws holding shift boot, remove upper shifter, remove 4 bolts holding lower shifter boot, remove bolts holding lower shifter, raise vehicle, remove fuel line bracket ar rear of tranny, disconnect tranny wire harness incl O2 sensors, index drive shaft and remove,
remove clutch hydraulic line, suppost tranny disconnect heat sheild from cross member, remove cross member remove tranny mount nuts then remove cross member, remove the exhaust mount nut and remove tranny mount, remove 2 engine oil pan to tranny bolts, remove 6 engine to tranny bolts, remove muffler from exhaust hangers, remove tail pipe from exhaust hangers, push down on exhaust so tranny clears when removing and finally remove tranny. i amy have missed a step or two so fell free to chime in. If you ahave a 4x4 you have to remove the Torsion bars and the transfer case and exhaust system.
Once the tranny is off remove pressure plate/clutch assy. Pull the flywheel and have it resurfaced or replace it. Figure a day for the R&R + what ever time the machine shop takes to do the flywheel. A good tranny shop takes 1 ½-2 days.
½ day to remove - day for the machine shop and ½ day to replace. Buy a new flywheel and save ½ day.
