Please help ASAP! A4LD trans not going into gear! Must fix SOON!

My B2 has been running perfect for along time now, the trannsmission was serviced a few years ago. It is a A4LD of coarse, elec. 4WD...Saturday I was going from park to OD, at around 4K on the tach and it made it a few inches then stopped and revved up. I tried going into everything, reverse, 4WD and nothing happens, it just sits there and revs like it's in nuetral and the idle is the same at park/nuetral as it is in the gears. It starts up fine tho. I also noticed when shutting off the engine i can hear a noise coming from the torque converter area that sounds like it spinning, wether the pump failed and it is dry or the T.C. itself failed. What can it be? I am almost positive my trans is fine. I am pretty sure to check the T.C. for fluid is to remove the rubber thing from the bottom near the bell houseingea and remove the bell housing and crank the engine so the T.C. drain bolt is to the bottom and take out, if fluid comes out the pump is working, if not the pump has failed? Also what else should I check for and how hard is it to do the pump. Also if it is my torque converter what aftermarket options do I have then getting a expensive OEM Ford, I'd rather get something much better. Thanks for the help.
