Anyone know of any adjustments? Or, do I have to replace it?
Problem: Periodically I have to jiggle the column shift lever in order to start the truck. I previously replaced the column ignition switch as I thought that was the issue.
HELP!
Thanks!
Tony

I seem to remember reading this on a site while researching reliability issues with the Ford Expedition before I bought my 97. Of course I might be making it up too. It's hard for me tell nowdays. Somewhere there is a wire that runs over the top of the column and rubs against the column at the same time. When you shift the shifter or when you turn the wheel the column rubs on the wire and wears the insulation off. This causes an intermittent short in the ignition safety switch wiring. When you move the shifter it adjusts the position of the wire and allows the connection to be made and the truck will start. Seems to me the site mentioned that Ford was aware of the problem and would move the wire for you. Good luck.
