E4OD "shuttering"

Hellow!

Im the second owner of my 92' f-150 and Im not for serten If the trans fluid has ben changed. It has only 94,000 miles on the truck and very little I mean very little was towed with this truck.
My problem is this when Im driveing at crusing speeds on the expressway the truck shutters in the trans and when im coasting from high speeds I can hear like a raw bearing sound at the bell housing. After driving for a while the trans slams hard going into reverse.Any sugestions?

I also heard that you should not change the fluid in a trans that has never been changed with a lot of miles beacouse of the bands will not work and or respond correctly with the new fluid.
Is this true?

What type of fluid is best to use? and shuld I put an additive in it as well? and what type shuld I use?

Thanks for reading
Smark

I would Change the trans. fluid / filter & drain the converter. Use Dextron III/ mercon fluid & add a friction modifier such as one offered by Lube Guard. Should solve your problem. If not, then your converter clutch is toast & the converter would have to be replaced. Good Luck!
