Atf+4 Fluid
Atf+4 Fluid
I have a question concerning tranny fluids.
I am having a hard time finding ATF+4 fluid. A couple of parts stores say that MERCRON IV is compatible.
Is this true?
Are there an acceptable substitute for ATF+4 fluid?
Thanks

I see from another post that you have the M5OD, manual 5-speed.
Ford recommends regular old Mercon fluid. I've never heard of Mercon IV, but most labels that meet Mercon standards state Dexron III/Mercon. I think the M5OD only requires 7.6 pts, which is around 4-5 qts.

I can't get away with anything on this discussion board.
Actually the tranny fluid is for my O1 Dodge Caravan. I have been to six Auto Parts stores and none of them have ATF+4 fluid. I was just wondering if anyone knows if there was any substitutes.
I have learned my lesson and I will never try to pull a fast one on you guys again.

.....and I though MotorCraft Mercon V for $3.83 per qt was bad
Sounds like they have a monopoly.
