TM oil change suggestions
I have a 5.4 2000, F1150 , with the ORP
I changed the transmission oil yesterday in my truck here are a few suggestions. I used a 30 gal. garbage can lid to drain the oil in and it worked great. I put some visquine on the floor first . I drained the torque converter and put in a new TC plug which my manual says to do. I put a B&M drain plug on the transmission pan. I used a torque wrench and torqued the new transmission drain plug. The instructions said 25 lbs. but it I were to do it again I would not use a torque wrench, Iwould snug it up without one.
I did not drain the trans cooler so I would suggest you put only 11 qts of oil and add some more if needed. I put in 12 qts in and had to drain some out.
