Question Performance Torque Converter ?

I need some input on which performance torque converter to buy( which stall speed). I cruised the internet and saw a big differance in prices. Any help would be appreciated.

Cool

HI!... I'm running a 2400 stall converter in my BUILT 4R70-W. I had mine built custom for me by a buddy that owns a tranny shop. I got mine for $900.00(CAN) and installed it myself. It's worth twice that. I highly recommend one. Just don't go over 2400rpm because you have a 5.4 like me and it makes it's max tq at 2300 rpm. If you go too high of a stall, you will be wasting that low end tq.

Thumbs up

Thanks Neal, Do you know where I can get a high flow fuel rail for the 5.4? I'm thinking about getting rid of my FMU putting larger injectors and higher flow fuel pump.

HI!... Well the LIGHTNING is running the same size fuel rails as you and making more power than both of us too. I think it is same to say that you don't need to upgrade to bigger fuel rails yet. I'm running 24LB injectors and am still N/A. I see you are SC'ed. You might want to switch to 42LB LIGHTNING injectors, 90mm "L" maf and a WALBRO in tank fuel pump. Don't foget to get your chip re-yuned for those mods. Your times are not bad for a SC'ed truck but they could be a lot better. Have you had a dyno tune done yet? I'm running the 1/4 faster than you and I'm still N/A. Just curious.

Hi Neal, Thanks for the reply. I checked out your pictures...cool. We actually have a shop in town with a dyno $180 for the full Monte. Do you think I should wait until I do the mods or get a baseline and see where I'm at now? With those changes I should be able to can KB's boost a pump. Should I go 3.73's or 4.10's?

HI!... If I were you I would go get a dyno run or two done now. This way you can see if your A/F ratio's are way lean or rich. Lean is very bad espiecally in a SC'ed application. It's probably going totake you a while to save the funds needed to buy all that stuff I mentioned above. So at least this way you can drive around with a safe tune until you get the other parts. If you need a SUPERCHIP reprogramed or any of those parts above I mentioned at a good price. Give MIKE TROYER a call at PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS. 1 (540) 862-9515. He's known as the SUPERCHIPS DISTRIBUTOR here on the site. He spends most of his time in the COMPUTER CHIPS section. I get ALL my parts and chip tuning from him. Tell him I sent you his way. He'll treat you right.
