I just got off the phone with a transmission shop and they informed me that I shouldn't be towing more than 5000 lbs. with my 150. They also said that F-150 transmissions tend to go bad at about 75000 miles and sooner than that if you are towing anything. Any truth to this?

 

Yeah, there are tons of threads on the weaker points of the 4R70W tranny...apparently it is not built to handle the torque the 5.4 puts out. Just swing through the forums and I am sure you will see several.
