Vehicle Recovery keeper strap

I just bought one of these for when me and my friends go muddin (off roading to you big city folk) . Many of my buddies use the same thing and we all attach them to the ball on our recievers. I was reading the packaging and it says not to do this, why? are they afraid it will come off and snap back and hit someone or something?

emissions,

that's exactly what they're scared of, and you should be too. i have done this many times in the past and never thought anything about it, till i saw one come loose. the stored energy in the straps is amazing. anyone close would get popped pretty hard. if you have a receiver hitch it's a lot better to run the strap inside the hitch and run the pin through the strap. i have not seen any problems with this. i have heard of ***** coming loose before, too. never seen that one and don't want to. good luck muddin, Rich.

I seen a cable break on a tow truck one time so I can only think what a tow strap would do if it came loose from the hitch I can tell you it wouldn't be a pretty site if someone got hit by it.
