Towing in OD
That's a good question. I've always been told that towing in OD was a no-no but, what is the breaking point at which OD shouldn't be engaged? 2000 LB? 1000 LB? 3000 LB?
Any insight?

My rule of thumb...
When the transmission starts having to hunt for the correct gear (upshifting/downshifting frequently), I take it out of OD. If it doesn't seem to be having any problems with excessive shifting, I would leave it in OD.
I just got back (last week) from a 700 mile round trip towing my boat at about 7500#. This included hwy, grades, small, steep, hilly roads up in the Ozarks etc. I kept mine in OD the whole time. It knows what gear to be in and it never once hunted for anything.
