Same questions about pulling

Since I traded off my 2001 Screw I have not been here much. I did love that truck. I have had several trucks and it is still my favorite.

But since I got back into drag racing I started pulling a lot and a 24 ft trailer is a pretty good load on that size truck. I still see people asking the same questions about "Can I pull this?". Sure you can. I pulled the 24 foot trailer with generator, compressor, race gas, and tools for 4 years. Every trip was safe as I could get it. I had no problems running 70 miles per hour and did it all the way to Alabama and back in 2012. The only, and I mean only problem with pulling with that truck was the braking. I drove the whole 4 years always looking way far ahead. In the 4 years I only had two panic stops. One I ended up in the middle of and intersection and the other I went down the shoulder to miss a semi. That time I would not have hit hard, but would have hit them.

About 2 1/2 years ago I traded off the Screw for a long bed crew cab 2001 F350 Super Duty DRW with a 7.3. It gets just about the same milage. It runs 70 without any problems. But the most important thing is even with the same amount or maybe more in the trailer it stops with no problem. I don't have to use a load leveling hitch and the dual rear wheels make a lot of difference in stability.

I used to post on this board about how my truck did the job and did it safely, but now that I have a truck which was built for the job I can see I was just fooling myself. Your F150 will do a great job doing what it was built for. Don't be stupid like me and fool yourself into thinking it will do the same job as a Super Duty.

Well put. I have stated before that 1/2 tons tow best at 5-6k and less.

Those that don't understand what I mean by this will continue to push things at, near or over their limits. Most will never have a problem. Some will have a close call; and hopefully nobody ends in disaster. If it ends in disaster I hope you can live with the outcome.
