I'm looking for some advise. I currently have a 2010 F150 Super Crew, 4.6L V3, 6sp automatic w/ overdrive, 3.31 Rear Axle Ratio, 5-1/2' Bed, GVWR of truck is 6,900 lbs according to the door jamb sticker and combined weight of cargo/occupants is 1,681 lbs. It came from the factory with the tow/haul button on the gear shift if that matters. Tires on the truck are 265 /70 R17 115T PATHFINDER HT that I got earlier this year from Discount Tire (before buying the travel trailer). According to the specs I've found, I can haul 8,100 lbs.
My travel trailer is 29-1/2' long (tip of tongue to back of bumper) GVWR is 7660 lbs, empty weight is 5,432 lbs. I am using an Eaz lift recurve R6 WDH and electric brake controller in the cab.
When pulling the trailer home from the dealer, it pulled fine except it was like jerk/tug sometimes (not all of the time though), and even seemed to do alright going up a typical curved inclined Texas freeway overpass.

My question is, if I do the truck mods listed below, will it help pulling the trailer or would getting a new F150 with the 3.5L Ecoboost and 13.2k towing be a better option?

Cold air intake will do nothing, the stock airbox is a cold air intake. The suspension mods and a good tow tune will help. The jerking you are getting is probably improper tongue weight and/or a WDH that's not properly adjusted.

Note that you will exceed the truck GVWR/payload rating before you reach the max tow rating, especially if you have cargo and passengers. The suspension mods do NOT increase the ratings.

Changing to 3.73 gears would help, but with the 6 speed, that's not as critical as it used to be with the old 4 speed.

 

The WDH distributes the tongue weight over the entire truck. So, I don't think suspension mods are necessary. When towing a trailer, there will be some jerking no matter what. I would just do the tune.
