Overheating ecoboost when towing
#31
Wow not really what I wanted to hear is right! I have it in a different dealership at the moment. They tell me so far they have replace the water pump, thermostat, and head sensor I am guessing flushed the radiator. My truck has 42,000 miles now so out of warranty. Wonder what that will cost?? I will be towing my toybox again on Friday to the river. We shall see if it overheats again. If it does it will have been a lot of money spent for nothing!!

Glad to hear they took care of it. I figured they would since the problem started during warranty.
So I took my truck into the dealership last week and they replaced the water pump, thermostat, head temp sensor and replaced the coolant. I towed my 24ft toy box about 180 miles to the river and back. No issues at all but..... air temps were only bout 78 F. so I guess we will see how it goes this summer.
I am very happy that Ford stepped up to the plate and did their best to solve my problem.!!

Glad you guys have good news, but nothing has changed on my truck. Took it to the dealer again and they went thru it with the same results, they cant find a thing wrong with it. Extremely disappointed with FORD, its not like they are advertising 11,000 lbs towing capacity for the first 30,000 miles and thereafter if you tow over 1,100 lbs your truck will blow up. I baby my truck, its the nicest vehicle I ever had but if I can't tow with it it's useless to me. And no I am not willing to throw bunch of money at a new vehicle to see if it maybe gets better.

I want to arrange for a follow-up call from your CSM. PM me your current mileage and a verification of your best daytime phone number; I'll do the rest.

Overheating
Just had the same issue with my 2013 ecoboost sc with 3.55's towing up a 6% grade. I was a weekend warrior for years on my 1989 5.0 mustang, so I feel I am no stranger around an internal combustion or even power added motor. There was always two steps all my mechanic friends and I took when building a car, first it was brakes and then cooling when adding hp and torque. I was towing a dry weight 4700lb trailer with my young fam adding approx 500lb inside the cab including the dog and I was disappointed to have the issue that the cooling system could not handle it.

Hello Crystal! I sent you a pm about my same issues too. It's not right for a $45k truck with the advertised towing capability of 11,300lbs to have these issues towing 7000-8000lbs. Let's get on this!

Good luck. I have had it to Ford 3 different times. All they ever say is it is a known issue. Check back later. It overheated again yesterday pulling my 7000# trailer over the same hill it always overheats on. It is very disappointing to me that ford advertised it to pull 11500 but it won't pull 7000# on a hot day. And unfortunately it is out of warranty now. I have 66k on it. I absolutely love the truck except for that. I had it in three times under warranty but I am sure it will be a fight even if they found a fix to get them to do it now.

Still overheating
I have a 2012 EB and posted earlier about my overheating problem. I've been to the dealer 3 times with no resolution, weighed my boat and sent it 7800# lbs so under their max. It gets hot towing my flatbed quad trailer with a RZR 4 seater. Maybe 4,000#. Peoria Ford says that's the way it is. Total bs when you buy a truck to tow with. I see Crystal has been helping, any resolution? With your overheat issues?
