Tire pressue while towing?
I will be towing a trailer that weighs about 5000lbs from Pittsburgh to NC this weekend with our new Supercrew. What tire pressure would you recommend for the factory BF Goddrichs?
Thanks for your help!!
Thanks for your help!!
Yes I do the same. I pump up the back ones to max pressure and leave the front. I want as much stability on the back to stop the rolling of the sidewalls. Some say pump them up to 40PSI but that will be over the max. We just towed 7000 Lbs for about 3000KM in the month of July
Pump them up to max pressure.
It will cut the sway dramatically.
I went from 32 to 44 PSI on the rear tires and it gave me another 10 MPH in stablity (55 to 65) without trying to sway.
Funny thing is the guy that towed it before me (uhaul trailer) couldn't get 45 out of his Tundra without sway

Inflate your rear tires to the maximum inflation on the tires sidewall. Do this when your tires are cold as air expands when it heats up. I run 80psi cold on my 250SD when I tow my 31 foot fifth wheel. I also got rid of my Firecrap(stone) steeltex at's for Michelens.
