Another can I tow this question (GN Stock trailer)

I have a 99 F150 5.4l
we have at our house an old (1978) steel stock horse trailer
The truck already had a GN hitch...so we are thinking great...but then I started thinking...this old trailer prob weighs quite a bit. Its 18' I think. I want to say 7-8k lbs.

We do have a trailer brake. We would be towing this about 20 times a year...and only about 30-45 miles each way. Eastern Nebraska... relatively flat...to rolling hills.

Thoughts?

The pin weight will probably put that thing way over max payload. 7 to 8k on a bumper pull would probably be over.

Whether it will tow it weight wise or not is irrelevant.

Older GN trailer sat much lower than todays modern trailers made to fit the newer higher trucks. If you hook it up plan on crunching you tailgate and/or bed rails if you try and tow it. If you raise the GN coupler to make room so it doesn't hit the bed you will probably be riding only on the rear axle on the trailer definitely exceeding a F150's pin capacity.

I think you're overestimating the weight of the trailer. Get your truck weighed, then hook up to the trailer and get that combo weighed.

get truck and trailer weighed, i'd say it weighs about 4000lbs or a little more unloaded, then go from there

my stock trailer weight is roughly 2500lbs empty, my f500 v6 pulls it just fine though the mountains here in BC canada ,

OK, yeah...I think that I was over estimating the trailer weight. I dont know why I thought it was that much...but I started talking to a couple of guys that have same size bumper pull and they say their trailers weight 2500-3000 pounds. Well mine cant be THAT much more. I am ok on the trailer hieght. What is the most that should be towed GN on an F150 like this?

I wouldn't go over 5k due to pin weight.
