Post Anyone have a white trailer?

My new trailer has black stuff that runs down when it rains. (My truck does too but it cleans easily).
How in the world do you get it off the trailer? I tried some trailer "streak remover" with unexciting results. Thanks

Thumbs up

I've used white lighting (found at Sam's but I think Walmart or Lowes may have it too) I've also used citris orange cleaner from HomeDepot. You have to delute this stuff as it can also take the paint off!!! Any good degreaser should work well. And my trailer is white now too!!

Cool

The black streaks are generally caused by pollution. I have a white car trailer with the same problems as well as white eves troughs on the house with the same streaks. You can buy from most rv dealers a product from "Starbrite" which works well for this(cleaner, wash and wax). If you keep a good coat of wax on the trailer it makes it easier to get the streaks off.

The trick to minimizing the black streaks is keeping the roof clean. Thats were it comes from. Short of having a cover to park under or put over it you need to wash the roof four or five times a year. With a rubber roof just use dish washing detergent and a long handled brush and it will help keep it down to a minimum. You will be surprized how much comes off the roof when you wash it.

Westleys bleach white or Purple Power does a good job of removing it.

keeping the trailer waxed on the sides helps prevent it from sticking real good too. I use the wax that goes on in the wash stuff cause its easier to do. Would never wax my truck with it but it does an OK job on the Camper.

cphillip, cool! I never would have thought of that. The top of my trailer is fiberglass. Do you think the Bleach White is OK? Thanks a lot. I want to put wax on the sides, but I have to get the streaks off first

Oh yea! with a fiberglass roof you can be a little more aggresive. But you may not need too. See how clean it comes. It's the rubber ones I would only use a mild detergent on.

With the new continuous rain we are now having in teh South East its time to re-clean mine as the dreaded black steaks are coming back. Pain the the butt! Hey that was one of the brighter sides of the drought we were having. No streaks!
