Have a source for that? This is the first I've heard. The 1500 Mega Cabs were built on the same frame and chassis as the 3/4 and 1 tons. Even have 8 lug axles.

Well yes and no.

1994 to 2002 1/2 ton through 1 ton did have the same frames
2002 to 2010 1/2 ton had a differernt frame from the 3/4 and 1 tons - except magacabs
2006-2010 megacabs all had the same frame

I actually am looking at a couple '06 F250's but have the 5.4. Not sure if it would really tow my camper any better than my '04 150 with 5.4. Also looked an an '05 gmc2500 hd with the 6.0 gas.

The F-250 will be more stable and sure-footed, but slower. Try to find one with a V-10.

just what set up are you using?
fifth wheel in the bed or on a ball off the hitch?
if the dealer wants to sale you the truck and you use a hitch why dont you take your trailer in with you and try it out any dealer will let you try pulling your trailer with it if its a use truck your buying! now thay might not go for it with a new truck but on use no problem.

remember one thing long hauls you will be in that set for a wile. so you might want to give up some things to get more comfort. like me just got a 2010 f150 and could not be happier but had a 02 chevy 1500 back in 07 that i could not set in for more than two hours till my a$$ went numb and right there i said its not about who gets there first it about how comfy me and the wife are!

Well I ended up with a 2010 f250. Made more sense to take advantage of 0% financing. Payment is not much more than the '06 I was looking at. Its an XLT with a few goodies. Engine is the 5.4 with 3.73 gears (couldn't find a V10). I figure if I doesn't pull satisfactorily I will just change gears to 4.10 or 4.56. that should do help.
BTY... I am pulling a travel trailer with WD hitch not a fith wheel.

Would it be worth it to change out gears to the 4.10's or maybe 4.56. does anyone know what size the rear-end is?
