Eclipse Milan 26BHS

So, my grandpa just bought this brand new Eclipse Milan 26BHS trailer. Real nice trailer, but I'm wondering what the weight of it is... It has a GVWR of 9000lbs. I'm thinking empty it's in the neighborhood of 8000lbs. Am I too far off? He's also towing it with his 2wd Titan. Where's the smiley where you smack your face?

1000 pounds of payload on a trailer is pretty low, especially of that size. My guess is closer to 7000 pounds dry/unloaded rating, 7500 with options and propane, 8200 pounds ready to camp.

Okay, I was off by 500 pounds. 6500 pounds "dry".

I found that trailer to be @ 6800lbs dry so I'm sure he's right around 7600lbs to 7900lbs ready to camp. I'm not even sure the Titans are even rated that high. The motors are strong but I've heard the rest of the drivetrain just doesn't hold up. Anyways, Gramps is going to have his hands full.

Gramps really should trade in that Titan on a 3/4 or 1 ton truck to haul that thing around.

His has all of the options listed... including the flat screen, fire place, electric jack, etc etc.

He said the power was fine, but that it was a bit of a handful with the wind... I made sure to point out the Ford dealer as we drove by...

For the safety of your grandpa... have a serious conversation with him, also I live in Missouri, where does he normally travel here so I know to watch.

Hook it up to your SD and let him drive it - I bet that will convince him that he doesn't have the right tool for the job.

He already told me I should pull it for him. He also told me I can use it whenever I want to... I need to replace a front caliper before I tow that bish though.

Dunno how I missed it, but the camper has a big effin sticker on it by the door that says "Empty weight: 6880 LBS".
