2005 Ford Factory Hitch.

Hello,
I was looking to get some info on the Ford OEM Hitch for the 04+ new body style F-150's. Are they any good or is aftermarket better? Ratings? Do they just mount to the bumper or to the frame as well? I also see that there is a difference between the 04 - 05 and the 06-07 OEM hitches. Can someone explain? I know it has to do with mounting and such, but need a better description if possible.

Long story short, I purchased my truck without a hitch and am looking for one to pull an enclosed 6x12 trailer with Atv's and gear, not much weight. Maybe I will get a boat or something in the future, but nothing huge. I have been looking for a used hitch for them and found one off of an 06, but someone told me that it wont fit. Also, I keep reading something about a dampener of sorts.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Devildog101

I notice that this was never answered or addressed... I am also in the same boat and would like to know about putting a towing package onto a truck that doesn't have one?

New aftermarket hitches from Etrailer aren't that expensive. You need one of those, a wiring harness with fuses and relays, a brake controller (if you are towing a trailer with electric brakes), and an upgraded tranny cooler.
