Im looking at buying a 05 FX4 from a dealer i asked him but seemed like it was more of did it have a tow hitch or not.

Wondering is there a way to tell? I know it does not have tow mirrors, its quite a drive so i cant look at it till i go up there and buy it (3hrs or so). The biggest thing i will tow is my mustang whenever i find a trailor. So maybe 3100 lbs, plus a 4wheeler one day and then of coarse the trailor wieght.

If it doesn't is it mainly just adding a tranny cooler? or is the trailor wiring different also?

 

Factory reciever hitch (no brand name on hitch like U-haul, Draw-Tite, Valley, Curt or Putnum), 7 pin plug in rear with bracket that drops down from under the bumper. At least that is usually the easiest way to tell.

 

One easy way is look at the aux trannie cooler. The tow package cooler is larger. her is a pic of an 04 with the tow pacake. If it did not have to tow package it would only be about 3" high as compared to this one which is 6-7" high.



Also, with the tow package, you got a 4 and 7 pin trailer connection.

 

True... but only if it is an automatic

 

You can't get a 04 up FX4 without the auto. The 04's did not have a manual option, for anything, not sure about 05, but as I stated, FX4 is always an auto.

 

The only 04's with manual are the 4.2 and 4.6 Heritage, and the only 05's to 08's with manual are the 4.2's with 2wd.
