Installing a D ring in box
Installing a D ring in box
I was looking at installing a D ring in the front of my box (on the bottom of the box) for hauling my street bikes and dirt bikes around to prevent the straps from crossing over either bikes tires and fairings. Is this a fairly simple procedure? Can i just drill from under the truck and reinforce the bolts with some washers or even a 2x4 to spread out the pressure? I also have a plastic box liner in my truck which i was hoping to just leave as is an not have to modify that to much.
any advice/pointers will be great

I think people are hesitant to answer for fear that if they tell you do do something and it doesn't work out, they don't want to be responsible for trashing your bikes.
Many people attach to the bed floor without supports. This should be sufficient for a dirt bike but probably not enough for a cruiser.
Running a piece of metal 1-2' side to side or front to back under the bed floor should be sufficent to support even a heavy dresser. I would thrink that a 3/16" 1"x1" angle should be more than enough as it is in addition to the floor material.
I would stay away from wood materials for fear of rotting and/or it breaking.

Colorado Osprey is right, i'm already using the side tie down points but the ring in the center of the box will prevent us from having to go around tires and fairings on our street bikes. the side points are fine when we load dirt bikes as we just go over the tires since there is enough clearance between the tire and the front fender fairing
