Unfortunately that would probably happen with any half ton truck if you put that kind of weight behind it. Still pretty funny though

The trailer is suffering too.
If you look at all the pics you'll see that it has 5x4.5 hubs and wheels which will only likely have a 3.5k axles for a total of 7k capacity including the trailer.
That stump looks to be about 10-20k!!!

This was not just a 1/2 ton wrecker, but just about any pick-up wrecker.

The tongue weight from poor load placement could have been as high a 10k.

No trailer ball mount/hitch is rated for that kind of weight. I'm surprised the reciever hitch didn't just rip away from the frame. Well it proves that GM did indeed have frame issues with that body style that was supposedly fixed in newer models.
(Secretly wish it was a wrecked Dodge instead though..... Friends don't let friends drive Mopar)

The owner of the truck\trailer didn't want to load the tree over the axles for fear of the forks damaging his fenders, according to the OP who took the pics. Not that it would have changed the out come much, but maybe he'd have a totaled trailer rather then a totaled truck.

Well, there's your problem......

At least the fenders on the trailer are ok!!

This is what happens when there isn't enough 'Natural Selection' allowed to take place anymore! Those bad genes just keep getting passed down from generation to generation and his next generation of family will probably top that one!!

Lesson of the day: If it takes something bigger then your truck to get that something on your trailer, which is attached to your truck, you better believe that your truck or trailer can't handle it.

No problem. Fill it up with 93 octane, put the tuner on "EXTREME TOWING", bind the hell out of the equalizer bars, and you're good to go!
