Having problems getting trailer off hitch

I have an 07 5.4 screw that I tow a 2006 Keystone VR1 297FLS that weighs 6930 empty. Anyway it is very hard to get the TT off of the hitch at first the electric jack would lift the back of my truck almost off the ground and then release now I have to release the truck from my hitch get everthing level and pull my truck off off the hitch and then take the hitch off the TT. This is a weight distribution hitch. The locking mechanism on the trailer hitch tries to relock while I'm taking the trailer off but I put a pin in the safty hole to prevent this. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Could the hitch on the TT need adjustment? Thanks.

This is a common problem with the Buyers knock off of the Bulldog style clam shell/hammer blow design.

It looks very similar but can be identified by it's angular coupler instead of a round coupler where it surrounds the tow ball.

I usually just replace them with a true Bulldog.

There is a sharp lip inside the coupler that holds onto 1/2 the ball causing them to hang up. They are also more difficult to lock up on some ***** as well.

You need to put on one of these:

It happens all the time. If there is any slight pressure on the hitch forward or back, it won't come undone. For instance if you parked on even the slightest hill, the trailer is pushing hard into the hitch. What you need to do is chock the trailer wheels, set the parking brake on the truck, then put the truck in neutral. The 1/2" that it will drift forward will do the trick.

X2. Somehow there is a load (horizontal) on the ball which is causing friction.

This is when you do the truck bed/bumper dance.
