I don't know that 30 do or do not, been awhile since I looked but you may be right. I know a few states allow it, and I'll venture to say most are flatter states and more western than say .... Virginia.

Excellent advice though!

Much much better to seek out the answer before towing double through states, much much better than ...
... taking the chance hoping you can maybe gain roadside sympathy only to see one trailer leave behind a wrecker and you holding a ticket and a wrecker's card with an address / number where you have to "go get it" before storage fees stack up too high?

Safe towing to you all!

From the NARVA, there are 30 listed states and all Canadian Provinces.

How does your truck handle it? I am looking at something similar except to have a ac unit on top. How well does it stop, tow, and such?

She tows just fine. However, I am a little worried about when she has an added 5,000 lbs in there with this lovely Alaska weather. I went up a hill here in town (at least a 15% grade) with the trailer empty, AND I was in 4x4. Hit the hill going 25 and started to lose traction about half way up... Pretty darn scary. I bought some very beefy chains, so hopefully that won't turn out to be an issue.

But over all, the trailer tows great. If you have the funds though, I would highly recommend buying a trailer made from aluminum instead of steel. A lot lighter empty and therefor more stuff can be put inside. Also, the braking I couldn't tell you really. I have not had any dry pavement since i bought it. I have yet to find a trailer that likes to stop on ice... But she does have brakes on both axles so I really don't see a problem stopping at all on dry ground.

Good news to hear on the truck handles it well! That has to be a scary ride! I plan to find a aluminum one for that reason in weight savings and to haul more things.
