Exclamation Another towing relay question ...

I called Ford today to get my Relay for the "tow/battery charge" and they told me they have no idea what part number I need. They said that the relays are just listed as multi-purpose relays. I have searched a lot of threads here and have come up with a couple different options. Can someone with a 2004 w/ factory tow package, please confirm which of these two parts they are using ... or list another if its not one of these.

F0AB-14A192-A
F0AZ-14N089-A

Thanks

I believe starting in '04 (Current body style) that the fuses and relays are already installed if you have the tow package.

Most auto parts stores will list an ABS relay that will work as well. You just don't want the mounting tab on the top of the relay or you won't be able to close the fuse/relay box.

Here is Auto Zone's part#:41-5612 $10.99

OK, so I bought and installed the F0AZ-14N089-A relay. It seems to make a lot of clicking noises when I turn the key on or off. Is this normal? I know that this relay is supposed to turn power on and off to the trailer connect so it would make sense. Just want to make sure, cause it seems louder than the other relays. Thanks

This is the same relay used in the 07 F150 Screw with the towing package.

It should be in the parts bag with the brake controller wires and instructions.

Does anyone know WHY Ford doesn't install this relay at the factory?

The folks at our Ford dealership told me that MOST people never use a trailer... I can understand not ever wiring in the trailer brake controller because I don't use it either... but the trailer lighting?
The lighting relay should be installed as the default, not the other way around
