Unhappy 99 trailer light strange problem....

When I put the 10 amps fuse ( I think is 19) in the hood fuse box, I've got some strange problem...... The left turn work fine but when I turn right when the trailer is connect I've right I left light flashing. When the trailer is not connect, when I push break pedal with right turn ON, The flasher stop to work.

Someone have Idea.

Thank's......

4-way or 7-way plug? Have you verified correct function of the pins on the truck with a meter or a test light?

I have 7 pin connector. I try with trailer unplug and I have the same problem.... When I Flash right, both flasher are ON.....When I remove the fuse, Every thing is OK but I don't have the right turn on the trailer....

Looking at the connector from the back of the truck:
.................................................[]
..........................................6../......\ 1
..........................................5.|..O.. | 2
..........................................4..\.... ./ 3
Pin 7 is the center pin.

With the truck lights off

When the right turn signal is on pin 2 will show 12v and pin 5 will be cold.

When the left turn signal is on the two pins will be reversed, pin 5 will show 12v and pin 2 will be cold.

If you want to test all the pins, pin 1 will show 12v with the truck ignition on, pin 3 will be cold as it is the electric brake pin, pin 4 will show ground always, pin 6 should only show 12v when the truck lights are on, and the center pin will show 12v if the truck is in reverse.

If I were testing the function of the connector:

1. Start with the truck lights off and the ignition on. Pin 1 should show 12v and all other pins will be cold.

Pass/Fail

2. Turn on the left turn signal. Pin 1 should show 12v, pin 5 should show 12v and all other pins are cold.

Pass/Fail

3. Turn on the right turn signal. Pin 1 should show 12v, pin 2 should show 12v and all other pins should be cold.

Pass/Fail

4. Turn off the turn signal and turn on the trucks parking lamps. Pin 1 should show 12v, pin 6 should show 12v and all other pins should be cold.

Pass/Fail

If any of the other pins show 12v except the ones I indicated you have a short somewhere in the harness or the plug itself. If the plug is suspected (OE 7-way) you can unclip the plug from the wiring harness by removing the plug from the harness and testing the individual pins in the connector the same way. The wires on my harness are of somewhat follow the industry standard colors as follows:

Pin 1 Orange--12v
Pin 2 Green--Right Turn/Brake
Pin 3 Blue--Electric Brake Feed
Pin 4 White--Ground
Pin 5 Yellow--Left Turn/Brake
Pin 6 Brown/White Stripe--Tail/Marker
Pin 7 Black/Green Stripe--Reverse Lights

I guess its a good thing I still have my harness in the box instead of installed in the truck.
