quick/easy brake control question

About to buy a prodigy. I can't remember though, do I need to buy a wiring harness? I have an '07 with factory tow package. I think there was some mention on here of a wiring loom in the glove box or something. I haven't checked though.

When I open the Prodigy factory brochure it lists a bunch of wiring harness for trucks with factory tow package.

Thank.

The Prodigy comes with a generic wiring harness that you can splice into the factory connector that you should have received with your truck as part of the towing package. However, I went ahead and spent the extra $12 to get the Ford-specific wiring harness because (1) it required less work to connect the BC, and (2) the wiring is much neater and fits under the dash better.

The choice is up to you--either one will work.

One last thought: be sure to install the relay that comes with the towing package. It should be in the same bag that has the factory wiring harness.

Thanks for the info. I pretty much figured out the separate harness. Def. worth the $12.

Also, did you have to attach a ground or anything under the bumper? I've heard Ford doesn't connect something in back from the factory. I did a quick look but didn't see any loose wires.

After I get everything hooked up I will attach to a buddies trailer to make sure everything works. Picking up an enclosed trailer this weekend that's 1300 miles away. Need to make sure everything is in good working order Before I get there ;-)

Thanks.

Everything in the back is already done if you already have a factory 7 pin round plug back there. Trucks without the tow package will need a 7 pin harness to mount to their bumper.

EDIT: Most truck/trailer sales and repair centers will have a trailer test machine to plug your truck into to make sure everything is working. This is usually no cost and is great insurance that after traveling 1300 miles you'll be sure everything is hooked up correctly.

I have the 7 pin from the factory so I should be good.

Excellent recommendation on the plug tester. I'll run up to the local Uhaul when I'm done!

Thanks.
