Electric Trailer Brake Controllers

I have a '07 King Ranch with 4 x 4, 3.73 LS, trailer towing package and 7200# GVW package. I occasionally pull a rented flat bed that has electric brakes. I will load the trailer with construction materials to a gross trailer weight of about 8000#. I had done this previously with my '02 Screw equiped the same way but with a 3.55 limited slip and never had a problem. The electric brakes worked through the big round plug connection. Does the trailer tow package include a automatic electric brake controler some where that I don't know about?

The integrated electric brake controller is an option on the F250 and bigger Super Duty. It is not a factory option on the F150.

You will need to install an electric brake controller, the harness it plugs in to as well as a few fuses and a relay or 2.

All in all....less than 30 minutes work

You stated 8000#'s meaning there is 800-1600#'s of tongue weight.

Your hitch is only rated for 500#'s of tongue weight.....probably as well your ball mount and tow ball....maybe 600# tongue, 6000# gross trailer.

You might want to re-consider your tow vehicle choice.

Doesn't the factory option hitch also allow for 1000/10k with weight distributing bars?

Yep....but I bet the original poster wasn't using them on a construction trailer.
I am trying to keep him from tearing his hitch off, or bending a ball mount or snapping a tow ball off.

A lot of times people forget to check the ball mount and tow ball for their weight ratings before loding up.
