Do I need a 5er hitch slider?

Hey folks, been a regular with the TT, no problems with the F250 PSD. About to upgrade to a 31.5 BH with 2 slides.

My issue is do I need a slider hitch with my short bed F250? Been reading a ton of posts about some do and some don't. The 5er is a Jayco, 08 Eagle Ultra Lite 31.5 BHDS. Not sure of the pin box length.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks folks

JP

Going down the road .....no
Trying to park in a tight campground....probably

Why not just install a slider...cost is about the same and it's there if you need it.

Have you seen the auto-sliders?....way cool. The slide as you turn if they are unlocked. Locked and they act like any other 5'er.

Thanks Osprey, yeah I have seen them but they are way expensive for my application. The manual slider is more affordable but the "sales" people are telling me I don't need it. All the posts I have read on RV.Net are about 50/50 for various reasons so I am confused.

There seems to be a lot of variables. One combo is a longer pin box with no slider, but then the downside is a harsh ride and the potential to put more strain on the 5er frame with the longer pin pox. To back my TT in my driveway now I have to cut it very sharp and I don't see a 5er being much different in that regard, will have to cut it hard to get in the driveway.
