2007 tow package relay

Took my new 150 to where my trailer is stored (about 100 miles away), and got the hitch all set up, checked that the prodigy controller was working etc., but couldn't get the electric tongue jack to work. Left the trailer there and came home scratching my head, it worked fine when I dropped the trailer off with my expedition. Checked around this site and found that I needed to plug in a relay that was in a plastic bag in the glove box with the generic brake wiring harness that ford supplies. Feel kind of stupid now, but geez....why couldn't ford just go ahead and plug the damn thing in at the factory?

Ooooh...that's an easy one.

90 plus percent of all truck owners do not use there trucks for anything other than a car to take people from one place to another...without any type of load. They own "trucks" because they look cool.

Installing the tow relays into the wire harness would make a "hot" harness and there is a greater potential for electrical corrosion or a short when these wires are hot. Also they would have needed to pay someone to install something that over 90% of the owners would never use....increasing the price of the truck for everyone.

Most Ford dealers will install these for free...as will most trailer dealers...if you ask nicely....when the vehicle is new...or not
